Hydration is not just about the pure amount of water you drink. In fact, you can drink excessive amounts of water and still be dehydrated. Hydration is intricately linked to minerals, your body’s ability to digest and absorb them, and their regular depletion rate from your body. Keeping your body adequately hydrated is more complicated than sitting down to a glass of tap water and more essential than you would ever expect.

Hydration, put simply, is the measurement of fluid levels in the body that allow for optimal functioning. In this measurement, the intra-cellular (inside your cells) and extra cellular (outside your cells) fluid levels, and the balance between the two are very  important.

Electrolytes, which we often hear about on sports drink labels, are key  in hydration and maintaining the balance of fluids inside and outside your cells. Essentially these little electrically charged minerals circulate throughout your body and act as messengers carrying nerve signals that control tissue function and movement. For hydration, sodium, potassium and magnesium are the 3 most essential .

Sodium regulates the fluid levels outside the cells by holding water inside the cells. Without sodium your cells can’t hold water, which is essential for their normal functioning. However, balancing sodium levels is important because excess sodium can cause your cells to hold too much liquid, triggering swelling in the tissues and hypertension.

Potassium is the most abundant electrolyte found inside the cells of the body. It is essential for nerve function, muscle contraction and energy production. Potassium works together  with sodium to maintain fluid balance, its main role being fluid regulation outside the cell. Your body loses potassium through sweat during exercise and needs to be regularly replaced in order to stay hydrated. Those who drink excessive amounts of coffee, regularly consume alcohol, take prescription drugs and/or consume a diet high in salt, also need to pay special attention to getting enough potassium in their diet.

Magnesium plays a regulatory role controlling enzyme function, energy production, cell metabolism, cell growth and cell reproduction. About 1/3 of every cell is made up of magnesium, where it controls the entry and release of calcium from the cell during muscular activity. The combined role of magnesium and calcium is crucial because calcium conducts electrical currents through your body that carry signals for muscle movement. When your magnesium levels are out of balance, the function of calcium in your body is as well, therefore  compromising your energy level and muscle function.

,Coconut water is  one of the healthiest drinks around.

When we think of coconut a few things mostly come to mind is...  well is  you have a sweet tooth of course would be that yummy shaved coconut on a pastry. How about all the things you can  make with a coconut
like wooden spoon. bowls , even jewelry has become very popular.

Coconut has been popular in the Pacific  Islands and Latin  America. However in the recent years it has gain the popularity here in the US.

So aside from it being a  naturally sweet  and thirst quenching, this fruit  has so many nutritional facts  that I will share with you know.

First, let’s talk about its nutritional value. After understanding its nutritional properties, you’ll easily understand the various health benefits.

Coconut Water Benefits – Nutrition – Electrolytes Coconut water has the five electrolytes that are already in our bodies. This includes potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, sodium and calcium. All of these electrolytes help in certain functions of our body. Also, being a natural health drink, coconut water does not contain any preservatives, fats or cholesterol. This makes it a good drink for everybody regardless of your conditions.

For instance, coconut water contains a considerable amount of potassium – about 295mg – far more than any other sports drinks and energy drinks, which contain only about 117mg of potassium.

Electrolyte Drinks (Like Coconut Water) Help Lower Blood Pressure.  One thing you may not know is that hypertension, or high blood pressure, is oftentimes caused by an electrolyte imbalance. Many hypertensive patients only worry about sodium, but all of the electrolytes take part in the “blocking” of ducts in our veins. Fortunately, coconut water has all five electrolytes, unlike your favorite sports drink.

Another important fact is the coconut water can be used intravenously in case of emergency to rehydrate.
As we all know coconut is in many of the products we use like lotions conditioners shampoos. its benefit is to hydrate your hair and your skin. And that great!! we all want to have a glow to our skin and  silky health hair. But the one thing to keep in mind is that these products work from the outside.  Drinking coconut water hydrates your skin from the inside.
So Here I have a few very interesting fact about why we should drink coconut water

  • Coconut water cures or prevents kidney or bladder stones.
  • Coconut water has anti-viral, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.
  • The pH of coconut water is isotonic with our blood. Because of this, coconut water can be used as a plasma substitute in extreme emergencies.
  • Cholera patients are also recommended to drink a glass or two of this natural drink; it may be helpful for them since coconut water contains albumen.
  • Coconut water is a great and natural way to prevent acid reflux.
  • It also aids in digestion.
  • One of the benefits of coconut water is it also improves blood circulation.
